Koena is a clinically driven skincare brand built around a proprietary anti-inflammatory blend called Resta-Plex. The science was strong. The packaging… needed help.

I led the redesign to elevate the brand in a crowded skincare market while preserving its clinical credibility.

The challenge

The original packaging was text-heavy and visually busy. In skincare, that often reads as lower-tier. Meanwhile, premium brands communicate confidence through restraint.

We needed to modernize without losing the science, and keep the iconic Koena blue.

My role

I led the packaging redesign end-to-end and art directed product photography for launch.

strategy & Design

We leaned into simplicity. I reduced visual clutter, elevated the logo, and gave the system room to breathe. The Koena blue was refined rather than replaced to maintain continuity.

Resta-Plex became a more prominent front-panel element to reinforce innovation. Photography followed the same principle, which was clean, elevated, clinically confident.

The goal wasn’t to look trendy. It was to look credible and composed. It was also key that it was redesigned in a way that allowed for additional product line development. Spoiler: It eventually did!

The refresh elevated perceived value and improved shelf presence, driving a 100% increase in sales within the first three months. It also gave Koena a scalable system for future growth.
